321 M.E.
Planet: Mars
Year 321 of Mars Era, almost three hundred twenty-two years after the human destruction of Earth. Scientists rushed to ready the planet for human colonization, losing numerous lives in the process in a legendary area known as the Opal Peak.
Ever since plant growth had become successful, and scientists began moving creatures over to Mars the area had become more and more dangerous to life forms. Studies have shown that even extremophile bacteria were unable to live there. No viruses were found, either. However, as they were unaware of this prior to their attempts to cultivate the planet. In their ignorance, many who were sent to Opal Peak without their suits - believing the oxygen in the air was plentiful enough that they would be safe - died, or returned to camp expressing unusual symptoms that persisted, worsened, and later killed the victim.
Opal Peaks were quickly known for being inhabitable by anything, and, thus, closed off for the first fifty years of life on the planet.
After those fifty years came Jonas Mecha. He had improved on his father's mecha idea, having decided to see what would happen if he built a mecha with everything but the battery. He left small holes in the back where the battery was formally placed after leaving out the diesel insert. Fearing his safety, he programed into a small rover the coordinates to drag his mecha there on a tarp, having reprogrammed the mecha, before removing the battery, the coordinates to return to his home once charged - if charged.
And so it did.
Three hours later, his mecha landed in front of his house, having traveled two hours from Opal Peak. Once inside, Jonas was surprised to find that his mecha was still mostly charged, and that this mist lurked in numerous other areas, too. Most of the areas expressed the same qualities as Opal Peak, but not to the same extremity.
"It just came to me in a dream," he'd replied modestly, face flushed as he shrugged his shoulders.
Now, in the year 321 M.E., only one Opal Air area remains in the mountainous area of Opal Peak; the best place to charge one's mecha.
New technologies of air-tight sealing and air filters make it possible for humans to travel their in their air ships and mechas to charge them all they like, but the government plans to seal off the area; take it for themselves and their mechas.
Becoming greedy, they've begun stationing guards around the area, switching them frequently to prevent any loss. The numbers of deaths of armed guards has risen in the past months, and the common folk's need for Opal Air has, too, as it's the one power source that doesn't pollute the atmosphere, and it runs everything on the planet.
Luckily for the humans, it's never ending, too, as long as you know how to feed Opal Peaks.

The common folk want - need - to get back Opal Peaks to power their town and their mechas. However, to do this, they need to be able to fight off the government and / or convince them that it's a necessity.
So...
(In the profile, by "Position", are they with the government, the common folk, or neutral?)
